The Studio

It's your music. We're your studio.

The Main Console in the control room

Babblefish Studios is an upper mid level, commercial recording facility specializing in music production. We are one of the few studios in the area to have the combination of space and knowledge to record full band basic tracks. We take much pride in the quality of our work product, gear and design. At Babblefish, we are always trying to give our clients the best service and quality product possible.

The back wall of the control room

The Control Room was designed to be acoustically correct and as comfortable as possible. The room is roughly 16'x18' with a ceiling that slopes from 9' to 11'. Without getting into too much detail, the design for this room utilizes the LEDE principle along with the no parallel surface rule.

Visual contact to the Live Room and both Isolation Booths is via large windows in front of and to the left of the console.

The mixing console is a Soundcraft 3200. These consoles where designed to sound great and be extraordinarily quiet. They have been referred to as “the little sib to the SSL” Tracking is to DAW (up to 48 analog inputs), 24 track 2” analog or 32 tracks of Tascam DA 38.

Monitoring is through PAS/TOC 15" coaxial soffit mounted speakers, and a choice of various pairs of near fields, including NS10's. For detailed list of speakers and other gear, check our Equipment List.

The Main Room or Live Room #1 at Babblefish Recording Studios is roughly 800 square feet. It has hardwood floors and 16' ceilings. The room is great sounding and has a medium reverb when not baffled off. The main room was designed to have a variety of sound characteristics depending on the location of the source within the room.

Isolation Booth A is 12'x16' with a cathedral ceiling peaking at 9'. This room is more than adequate for most drum sets. It offers a tight, warm sound, great for a pop drum sound or voice over work. One of the nice features of this room is the fact that it's large enough to get comfortable in and still retain a tight isolated sound without feeling cut off from the rest of the studio.

Isolation Booth B is the smallest of the rooms. It was designed for scratch vocals and voice over work. This room is acoustically dead for when no room acoustics are desired.

Several rooms are available at Babblefish for clients to hang out while not tracking. Currently, we have a comfortable lobby with a wide variety of music trade and entertainment magazines to keep you occupied while waiting for your band mate to finish tracking.

We also have a full kitchen equipped with a fridge, microwave, water cooler, a TV, and even vending machines.
